Fully Mirrored Fields with Amazing Details The American Eagle Silver Proof Coin is a collector version of the official US Mint American Eagle Silver Bullion coin. Proofs are struck multiple times with highly polished dies creating a two-tone finish with a mirrored background and frosted foreground. Proof Silver American Eagles are highly coveted by collectors worldwide for their incredible attention to detail. Proof Coins More Scarce than Bullion Issues Collectors are also attracted to the substantially lower mintage figures of the Proof Silver Eagles. Average annual Proof mintage is generally under 1/10th of the bullion coins produced each year. Out of the already low mintage, only a small percentage meet the strict grading requirements to receive a “near-perfect” Proof-69 grade. In addition, they have the designation of Ultra Cameo Proof as certified by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation. The opportunity to own a complete set in such high grades offers incredible value at current price levels, in our opinion. Early Dates Getting Harder to Locate in High Grades What we’re realizing now is that some of the earlier dates in the series are challenging to locate in the highest grades. As time goes on and we attempt to assemble sets, it becomes more and more difficult to locate “early dates.” This is one reason why we highly recommend acquiring these sets at current levels. Specifically, the low mintage 1993, 1994 and 1995 Proof issues pose the greatest challenge to acquire in Proof-69 quality.
