Some 1,764 years ago the Roman Emperor Philip I commemorated the 1000th Anniversary of Rome with a lavish celebration and issued a large, Silver Commemorative Double Denarius Coin.

Our Austin Buying Tust just located a small group of these authentic, Philip I Roman Coins which we will now release to our Preferred Collectors in time for Christmas gift giving.

The anniversaries of Rome’s founding were held every 100 years or so. The most important celebration of the founding took place in the year 248 when Philip I hosted the Millenary Games to honor the city’s 1000th Anniversary.

Honoring Rome’s 1000th Anniversary
After signing a treaty with the Persians, Philip I returned home to celebrate the ancient games that were held on a scale rarely seen. The games were highlighted by the assembly of rare animals from all parts of the Roman Empire and great contests were held at the Circus and the Ampitheater. This Silver Coin, of exceptional quality, was minted during this 1000th Anniversary of Rome to commemorate this historic event.

Ancient Coin Details
The Philip I is not an ordinary Roman coin minted in large quantities for use as money. This ancient coin was carefully designed and issued as a limited edition commemorative struck by hand at the Rome Mint. Each one exhibits the bust of Philip I down to minute details. The reverse is Goddess Annona holding grain in her right hand and a cornucopia in the left. Best of all, each coin we’re offering today is in an exceptional state of preservation that shows off all the fine details.

Specifications:
